Government

Boonville is governed by a Mayor-City Council-City Administrator System. The Mayor is elected to a 4 year term. Boonville is divided into 4 Wards and each ward has 2 representatives. City councilmen are elected to 2 year terms, council elections are held every year. The City Administrator serves at the pleasure of the city council.

Boonville has 10 city departments that oversee everything from parks and recreation to public works.

Boonville's location is perfect. It has three exits off I-70 and there is also an airport available for corporate and private airplanes. 

Additionally, a publicly owned port lies in Boonville that is available for use. 

Boonville is also home to the KATY Trail State Park. A 225 mile Rails to Trails hiking and biking trail. It runs through the entire state linking Kansas City and St. Louis. 

Boonville is the county seat for Cooper County and is the largest town. County government offices and the Cooper County University of Missouri Extension Office is also in Boonville.  The extension office can be reached at 660-882-5661.
